The Global Fund for Children appears to be a wonderful organization with a global reach but a local impact. The Global Fund works by finding organizations that are normally in the infancy stages to invest in. These organizations can be found in your local communities, run by local leaders. The Global Fund offers these organizations grants, mentorships, advice and guidance. Additionally, it assists in expanding the impact of the local organization by connecting them to national and regional partners who also advocate for children.

The National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), was started by the Black Women’s Community Development Foundation in the wake of the Civil Rights Movement (2021). Armed with the desire to improve the lives of Black children. They have four main initiatives; delivering on the promise, the responsible transformation of ECE workforce, racial equity in Early Childhood Education and the NBCDI policy fellowship.

Delivering on the prose of effective Early Childhood education seeks to ensure that Black children benefit from ECE programs dismantling harsh disciplinary practices that exclude them and by promoting inclusivity (2021).

The responsible transformation of the ECE workforce has two goals:

  1. Examine the impact new education requirements may have on Black early childhood educators; and

  2. Explore how to best implement a bachelor’s degree requirement for early childhood educators in communities that primarily serve children of color, by strengthening and not displacing the current workforce (2021).

Racial equity in early childhood education focuses on crating resources that challenge the talks that focus on the limitations and deficits while negating the strengths, assets and resilience of Black children, their families and communities.

Finally, the NBCDI policy fellowship helps to bring Black leadership to the national level to ensure representation of Black children in policy making.

Hey Nicole, The Global Fund For Children Foundation sound amazing. This organization really puts its best foot forward for the children. I appreciate the foundation implementing the bachlors degree for early childhood educators. Children deserve quality education, from qualified educators from the start of their development. Great post as always!

Hey, these two organizations I was not familiar with. They sound amazing and the Black National Child Development Institute is an organization that is needed in the community. So many African American children are with out the proper education and their families are not receiving the resources to help their children. This organization is a great resource for those families. This organization will help make sure the daycares have proper staff to educate not just a highschool diploma but a degree. This allows the children in the black community to receive quality education. Great Post!
